ICE CREAM
After a succesful trial run last summer, we are making ice cream again this summer. If you haven’t tried it yet, you really ought to…
Flavours: tahitian vanilla, chocolate, lemon, hazelnut, cherry with chocolate bits,( more flavours to add as we go along.)
Plus: Dame Blanche, a special ice-cream based dessert from Patrick’s native land. It involves a deeply rich chocolate ganache and hazelnut nougatine…yum!
If you feel stuck for dessert ideas next time you entertain, remember:
We are here for you. A box of chocolates, our famous chocolate mousse, or a tub of our ice cream will do nicely, and instantly.
For mousse, please call ahead to order as it needs to cure overnight before beeing transportable/edible.
Thank You for your continued support. Couldn’t be here without you!
All the best,
Team Ambiance
No comment Yes, we know – you are still working your way through your Easter chocolates but this is a special occasion, and they are not for you this time…
By popular demand, the Passion fruit cream is making a comeback for this Mother’s Day, in a sleek and elegant heart shape form. To compliment it, Patrick is working on a new one – working name SFF (Strawberry Fields Forever;0). Also back, after a long hiatus, are our Rose essence wine caramel as well as Grand Marnier cream.
Until next time,
Team of Ambiance Chocolat
No comment Happy spring to all of you from all of us at AMBIANCE!
We were going to write about our new and exciting and beautiful goodies that we have in the store right now, and then this email arrived and said it all… So, with Heather’s permission here it goes:
“I was in the store this morning and had coffee with Beata and sampled all the new Easter goodies! YES ALL. I am such a pig but I wanted to be one of the first to have a taste of this year’s treats.
Well the chocolate cinnamon egg is simply spectacular and a real surprise. One could not really know it was cinnamon that gave the complexity unless told. Such a lovely finish too. The almond/pistachio also fabulous as are they all. As I write I am sitting here with a cup of tea finishing them all off! No I have NO restraint and no self discipline which is why I buy only small amounts but I will be back before Easter to stock up my supplies for gifts.
Patrick you are a genius. I have this image of you as a mad scientist in the room at the back experimenting endlessly and critically. Might I volunteer to be the official taster in future? It is all beyond delicious and I think it is the complexity of the flavours which sets Ambiance Chocolate apart from all others I have ever had. And now I am wearing them all around my middle……………….”
We hope to see you soon!
No comment Good things are cooking at Ambiance this fall, and we invite you for a look and a taste! Soon, you’ll be thinking about Holiday gifts. In the next few paragraphs, we’ll explain why you need to give our chocolates to everyone on your list this year.
First off, let’s consider the alternatives.
Ties and socks, scarves and mittens, sweaters? No. Unlike the above, chocolate is always the right size and colour. No gift receipt will be required. Gift certificates? Perhaps, but your recipient still needs to get to the merchant in question, select an item, maybe even try it on…Chocolate, on the other hand, offers instant gratification and oohs and aahs from the recipient to you, thus doubling the pleasure of giving.
Gift baskets? What a waste. Consider the cellophane, the shredded fill around items nobody knows what to do with, plus a basket that never quite matches the décor or purposes and will inevitably end up in the trash.
Now, consider the clean and tasty chocolate alternative. This gift can be enjoyed in several ways.
Way one: rip the package open, eat the chocolates, (sharing is optional), recycle the package. Voila, you are done! Way two: rip the package open, eat the treats, (sharing is still optional), save the package to bring to Ambiance for a refill. Brilliant!
Need we say more? Yes, this: We wish you the best Holidays ever. As you collect compliments for your good taste, we ask that you remember where you got your good gifting tip!
No comment Truck driver or chocolatier? Seems like a no-brainer, but it was a tough call for Patrick Smets, who left his native Belgium, where he hauled loads, to join his brother in the chocolate business here in Toronto. At the Belgian Chocolate Shop in the Beach, he quickly discovered his palate and, in time, opened his own shop. Regulars stream in for their daily hit of espresso with a home-baked cookie (one of a dozen home-baked varieties) or beautiful truffles made with Michel Cluizel or Valrhona chocolate. In summer, iced chocolate frappés are blended to order; in winter, outrageously good jalapeno-infused hot chocolate will warm sippers from the inside out.
No comment The unmistakable flavour of scotch comes through this chocolate loud and clear, tempered with sweet caramel and given a certain je ne sais quoi with a sprinkling of French sea salt, all wrapped up in dark, 85% cocoa. Leather wingback and Cohiba not included. Now that’s one manly bon-bon!
